The presence of Ed Reed mlb jersey makes life much, much simpler for the corners. Reed

is capable of blowing up plays in the box, although the Ravens would rather feature the fluid Dwan Landry in run support. Ex-Cowboy Ken Hamlin, a hitter with

consistency issues in coverage, will fill in while Reed is on the mend. The only area of concern with this team is cornerback, but it could be a big one. No. 1 corner

Fabian Washington is looking to rebound from a November ACL tear. The hope is the injury hasn’t diminished Washington’s greatest strength: quickness. Last year’s

promising third-round rookie, Lardarius Webb, tore his ACL in December and almost certainly won’t be 100 percent in 2010. The Ravens signed veteran Walt Harris as

insurance, though they’ll turn to Chris Carr nfl hats first. Former Ram Travis Fisher could also

sneak into the picture.Despite the talent at outside linebacker, Newsome drafted Sergio Kindle, a projected first-rounder who fell to No. 43 over all because of

concerns about past knee problems and character. Kindle has star potential but fractured his skull after falling down stairs July 22. Last year’s second-round pick,

Paul Kruger, increased his weight to 274 and is moving to defensive end, presumably to one day replace interior pass-rushing veteran Trevor Pryce. The outside

linebackers also benefit from Lewis’s leadership, though Terrell Suggs and Jarret Johnsons, each with seven years of experience, presumably don’t need constant

guidance. Suggs’s ability to shed blocks makes him the best playside run-defending outside linebacker in the league. In an effort to stoke Suggs’s old pass-rushing

prowess (he had just 4.5 sacks in an injury-riddled ’09 campaign), the giubbotti Ravens hired his

linebackers coach at Arizona State, Ted Monachino. Johnson has the speed to turn the corner, the strength to hold the edge and the nimbleness to drop into

coverage. There’s something about playing for the Ravens defense that brings out the best in people. Subpar players become serviceable. Serviceable players become

solid. Solid players become good, etc. … Although Greg Mattison’s creative 3-4 scheme deserves credit, the driving force behind these elevated performances is Ray

Lewis. No one wants to disappoint him. And Lewis’s high football I.Q. keeps everyone on the same page.
